As a gift for my sixteenth birthday, I had my colors done. Very '80s, I know. I'm a "winter," which means that rich, gem colors in cool tones look best on me. The thing is, I can remember favoring cool colors even as a young child. Knowing this, I try to break from the tradition of working in this palette from time to time, but, ultimately, I find my way back to what is familiar and preferred.
In addition to the two smaller works above, I finished this custom painting this week. I also added to
my Etsy shop two originals that were part of
my show at Tilde in July. I'm ecstatic that I sold 12 of the pieces, the funds going to my Ireland trip coming up! Thanks to all who went to the show or took a peek online.

hi cathy, i love "first snowfall"! it's very apt for here in nz the whole country is in the grip of a "polar blast", brrrr... my fav colour is pthalo turquoise, so love your palette, especially when you complement it with that rusty red (not sure of correct name!) also am amazed by the detail you get in your 4x4 pieces, i consider 10x10 small for me! sally
lovely! I adore the dark colors.
j'adore.
Gorgeous painting.. I love the colour palettes!!! Ahhh the 80's.. I am a winter too.. I do th esame try to break out of it but always go back ha ha ha!
these are just gorgeous! I love cool colors too--I'd say periwinkle is my favorite color. But it's funny, as a little girl I was all about pink. I went through a period of tom-boyish resistance for my teens and early 20s, but now I wear a ton of pink and love it too.
Thanks for all your encouraging comments! I started a large, dark painting this week. Not sure what I think of it yet, but I'll post pics soon.
