At about the same time I discovered The Jealous Curator, I came across another great art blog called Art Hound. Based in Brooklyn (which is, in my opinion, the capital of contemporary creatives), Kate Singleton started Art Hound out of her love of affordable art.
I began to collect affordable art four or five years ago. I spent many, many hours researching online and was shocked by how difficult it was to uncover high-quality but inexpensive art. Over time I found a ton of great artists, blogs and e-shops but had the realization that more needed to be done to bring affordable art to people's attention. I see myself as somewhat of an art world "outsider" and use that perspective to bridge the gap between artist communities and regular people interested in art. At the end of the day I hope to inspire more people to make art a part of their lives and homes.
Art Hound covers several topics of art, including collecting, current shows, picks of the week, and artist interviews (which are some of my favorite posts to read). I most appreciate Kate's keen eye for talent and her knack for describing the style of each artist in a way that is informative, engaging, and smart. . . just some more of Brooklyn's goodness!
